Now that wedding season is over and done with (at least for now), many of the stores in Brooklyn try to clear out their summer stock to make room for the winter. A place that I head to a lot is Fashion Island (1434 Coney Island Ave). Ask for Esther- she is the best. If you know the general direction of what you're looking for (price point or overall style) she'll put together some options. She's honest and direct about what looks good and what would not.
Everyone else in the store is helpful as well.
The big question now is, what to buy? The best bang for your buck is a great black dress or outfit. Its something you can wear throughout the seasons and if you gain a couple of pounds, it won't show as much. Loehmann's has a huge selection of formal skirts and tops, back and bright colors). I always go there first for what ever occasion. They have their "insider club" that you sign up for (free of charge) and you get the following:
- 15% off for your birthday
- Special offers & discounts
- Advance notice of sales & events
- Email announcements and more
- Various discount offers from our partners:
FTD, Restaurant.com, SpaFinder, & others
When ever its the weeks surrounding my birthday I get such an itch to go there. I'm more excited about my Loehmann's birthday discount than I am about anything else surrounding the day. My husband calls it a sickness.
I've been seeing a lot of the halter dresses with skin-tight shirts underneath. You can get these shirts online. Linda Leal or Kiki Riki shirts are the best ones out there. (I'm open to other suggestions) They are much cheaper online. There are a lot of sellers on Ebay that have great prices and a huge selection of styles and sizes.
Happy Shopping!
